Why It’s Effective
Coconut oil has proven insect-repelling properties that can offer up to seven hours of protection! Is there anything coconut oil can’t do?

Popular for aromatherapy, Rosemary and Lavender both have strong and distinctive scents that effectively ward off mosquitoes.

Tea tree is a potent oil containing terpenes that repel insects away from your skin. The oil is also caustic to the exoskeleton of insects which gives you additional protection from outdoor insects.

Studies have shown that components in Eucalyptus are as effective, if not more effective, than DEET.

Like Rosemary and Lavender, the strong scent of Eucalyptus is believed to make it difficult for mosquitos to find a host by throwing off their delicate sense of smell.

Citrus oils are strong bug repellents, but unlike lemon, Orange does not have phytotoxic properties which causes your skin to burn more easily in the sun.

Ingredients:
◇ 3 oz Distilled Water
◇ 1/3 cup Coconut Oil (look for Virgin Organic Coconut Oil that comes in a glass jar)
◇ 20 drops of Rosemary Oil
◇ 20 drops of Lavender Oil
◇ 15 drops of Tea Tree Oil 
◇ 10 drops of Eucalyptus Oil 
◇ 10 drops of Orange Oil

Directions:
1. Melt the coconut oil into a double boiler until fully liquified.
2. Allow the coconut oil to cool down, then add the water and essential oils.
3. Mix thoroughly and pour into a small glass spray bottle.
4. Shake well before use.
Word to the Wise:
Reapply your homemade bug repellent frequently to maintain protection from bites! Simply spray the mixture over the body, avoiding your eyes. Be sure to shake before each use as water and oil naturally separate over time.
